Cyndy Yu-Robinson, Executive Director, NAAAP
As NAAAP’s Executive Director, Cyndy Yu-Robinson oversees daily operations, supporting and coordinating the actions of one hundred volunteer leaders in areas of business development, programs, marketing, communication, and administration. During her tenure, Cyndy helped NAAAP launch the ERG Virtual Training Program, speakers bureau, and NAAAP Pride and conduct various IT transformation projects to unify web-based services.
Cyndy has worked for 25 years in communication, public affairs, and public engagement. She has worked in the public sector – 19 years in intergovernmental affairs and public affairs at U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, in private sector — as Lenovo’s Corporate Social Responsibility Manager, and as AECOM’s lead public engagement specialist, and as Stanford University’s campus volunteer coordinator.
Her service to the Asian community includes being a volunteer at the Asian Women’s Center in San Francisco, an officer of the Triangle Area Chinese American Society in North Carolina, and project director for Census 2010 Outreach to Asians and Pacific Islanders. Cyndy graduated from Stanford University in 1987 with a bachelor’s in human biology and from the University of California, San Diego, in 1991 with a master’s in international relations and Pacific Studies.
Cyndy and her husband Steve also run a karate school in Raleigh and train Olympic hopefuls, including their daughter and son. As a direct result of leadership skills fostered in NAAAP, Cyndy’s school hosted the AAU Karate National Championships for 1500 athletes at the Raleigh Convention Center in 2015 and in 2017.
