Xia Liu assumed the roles of Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Treasurer for Georgia Power on October 1, 2017. In these roles, she is responsible for overseeing the company’s accounting, financial planning and analysis, budgeting, treasury, internal controls and auditing functions. Liu previously served as vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer for Gulf Power, and, prior to
that, senior vice president of finance and treasurer for Southern Company.
Since beginning her career at Southern Company in 1998, she has lived in three of the four states where the Southern electric system serves retail customers and has served in numerous roles with increasing responsibility for Alabama Power, Southern Company Generation, Southern Company Services (SCS) and Gulf Power. Liu earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in finance from Renmin University in China, and a Master of Business Administration from Emory University. A chartered financial analyst (CFA), she has also completed two years in the economics Ph.D. program at Emory University. Additionally, she is an International Woman’s Forum Leadership Foundation Fellow, and attended executive programs at
Harvard University and INSEAD School of France.
As a graduate of Leadership Atlanta, Liu is active in the community. She has served on numerous boards of directors, including the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra, Florida TaxWatch and Gulf Coast Health Systems. Liu currently serves on the board of the PACT World Organization.
