Cyndy Yu-Robinson has worked for 25 years in communication, public affairs and public engagement. Her passions include environmental sustainability, science communication, women’s development programs, community service, and sports and fitness. At the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, she worked as a Congressional Liaison, Public Information Officer, and Communication Director over 17 years (1991-2008) and as the Asian Special Emphasis Program Manager for 9 of those years. She also worked as Corporate Social Responsibility Manager at Lenovo for 1 year and with AECOM, an engineering and environmental services company for 10 years.
As Executive Director of the National Association of Asian American Professionals (NAAAP), Cyndy supports the work of a national board and executive team and infrastructure for 28+ independent yet affiliated chapters. She is also on the board of North Carolina Asian Americans Together and Stanford Asian Pacific American Alumni Club. Her service to the Chinese and pan-Asian communities includes volunteering with the Asian Women’s Center in San Francisco, the NC Triangle Area Chinese American Society, and Census 2010 Outreach to Asians and Pacific Islanders in North Carolina.
Cyndy considers herself a third-culture kid; she is an American born Chinese whose parents’ careers enabled her to attend school in Laos, Thailand, and Singapore. attend Stanford University and UC San Diego. Her biracial, multicultural family has resided in North Carolina in 2002 and is very involved in training nationally ranked karate athletes.
